For development processes and institutions to be inclusive, governance needs to be pro-poor, democratic, accountable and transparent. Praxis believes that the State bears a critical responsibility to facilitate access to development opportunities and social justice to marginalized communities. Good governance implies that the government’s arms/institutions are accountable and transparent and succeed in achieving an equitable society.

Praxis takes up projects that study governance mechanisms across the country, especially in Bihar, to strengthen the government’s arms and institutions as well as make them transparent and accountable. The aim of the Integrated District Planning Exercise was to come up with an Integrated District Plan in Vaishali district of Bihar. In Sikkim, Praxis trained government functionaries to enable them to facilitate decentralised planning.
